How does it work
The LR4 has a sensitive sensor that knows when your cat has entered and exited. It’s so sensitive, that when the pod spins, it’ll stop in place if I wave my hand inside. You won’t have to worry about it turning on while your cat uses it.
Once your cat exits, the LR4 will begin to spin the litter and sift through a filter separating any waste and dropping it down below to the waste bin. It has a default of 7mins before the cycle will begin, but you can alter that for a longer time if necessary.

Do you need special bags
Litter Robot does sell its own bags, however, I found it more convenient to just buy garbage bags from the store. You’ll have to pull firmly to fit the last corner, but I use these Glad bags
How to keep it clean
Remember when I mentioned the one downside of the Litter Robot? Well, here it is: it's not self-cleaning. But imagine if it was! That would be the perfect finishing touch.
Although the Litter Robot 4 does the scooping for you, you’ll still need to clean it every so often. You'll need to decide how long you want to let the poop sit in the bottom drawer. Personally, I've found that after 5 days, I start to smell an odor. So, every 3 days, I make sure to empty the drawer.
On that magical 3rd day, not only do I empty the drawer, but I also take the time to disinfect and clean it to keep everything fresh. It's a simple process, really. Just pull out the drawer, toss the bag, give it a wipe down with a vinegar and water solution, spray some Angry Orange on top, let it sit for a few minutes, wipe it down with a paper towel, put a new bag in, and sprinkle some baking soda. Easy peasy!
Can You return it
As a company that makes products for cats, Litter Robot definitely understands that not all cats will like it. So, if your cat hates it you can return it within 90days. It’s a win-win
